However the most complaints i see about flash are from mac users. I do not hate Apple or the Macbooks they make,  they are very good products, however the only people i see complaining about flash are Mac Users? I do not think you should eliminate a product just because it does not work for them. It almost seems selfish. I have not used HTML5 videos with JS and CSS so i can not argue if it is better.

After reading a lot of comments it looks like many people think flash will disappear for good.

When you simplify and use web standards you only need to create one set of sites because that site will work the best in all browsers with the smallest amount of glitches. This in the end means customers are going to see the site the way you wanted it more often than not.  With the seperation between HTML and CSS you cut development time in half. This allows for changes to occuring at the same time to two different aspects of the sight. It also allows for easy maintanence. All you have to do is chandge either the CSS or HTML. You do not have to go back and try to replicate a feel you made previously and forgot it. Its still in your CSS. These are just a few reasons to stick to the standards of XHTML and CSS for all sites.

There were some things that i learned from it though. I did not know that many sites do not actually go by the web standards. This makes there site not attractive and usually loses interest from previous visitors. The whole point of a web site is to attract visitors to your business through a creative outlet. Using dreamweaver along with CSS allows for that to happen. It also is the best way to make engaging yet effecient sites on all browsers.

I may have known the basic sof dreamweaver but i did not know about the philosiphy behind it.

There are two forms of card sorting. One is open card sorting and one is closed card sorting.  Open card sorting has cards that are in no set category or group. This allows for the site to start its basic content grouping. The closed card sorting is used for when you want to add new content to a site but you do not know where you should put the data. The cards have the groups that they are in. The new content has no group so when the user puts them into a previously made group they are saying this is where the new content belongs. This is very helpful for adding new content.

When we made the wireframe in class i had previously never made a wireframe because i have not actually made a professional site yet. All the sites that i have worked on have been just for fun. When i start on those sitesi just think what i want the sites to look like and then i just go. I do not have to wait for approval from someone else. That is why i have never thought about making a wireframe.

To me the first thing i ask them is if they want it to be a giant site with lots of information thats has lots of text or if they want it to be a more graphical representation of what they want. From then on i go to a color scheme. I go through and pick colors that i thinkl look good together. I especially do this when i design logos. To me getting a web sites color down is very important. You have to find out what audience the web site is going for. If it is for a younger crowd of males the sites will tend to be darker. If its females or older people the sites tend to have a lighter appeal.

Style is the small things like what text format you have and what is your color scheme for the whole web site. Style could also include things like flash. What does your web site do? Does it have any motion to it or is it static. Anything that you do with flash could be considered style.

So design is considered the basic format of a site while Style is the small things that make a site a little more unique. These days many people want almost all style with little relative thought to the basic design layout.

When you optimize a photo for web you are taking away some of the quality because you are finding likenesses in color and grouping those colors together to save space when you save the photo. That is why the graphics when optimized for web lose some of their value ybut gain a tremendous boost in load speed.

This is very important because the role that web graphics have is also tremendous. People look at web pages today and they want something that is engaging yet simple and quick. Adding photos to any sight allow for the user to have a better experience. Sites without any form of graphics do not usually attract a lot of visitors. People get bored and they leave as soon as they can.

1. The 1 Trick Pony website has a flashy yet western feel to it. Its colors are western including reds and sand colors and,  the whole website is completely animated.

2. McClanahan Studio has an awesome site whose design has a 60′s-70′s feel to it. Every link has a ripped or burnt paper edging and the background is a wallpaper look from the 70′s.

3.Chirp.Twitter.com has a definite cartton style. Fonts and photos all have cartoon effects added to them.

4.Gmillustration.com has a site that literally looks like it has been hand drawn straight to your screen. The look is hand drawn for sure.

5.kiddk.com has a site that has a scrapbook/ paper cut out look for all its web elements. Its whole page is based on the feel of paper with writing on it.

Out of these sites i liked the one trick pony site due to its animations for the site. All the border images slide on and off the page every time you change pages or click a new link. They also have a perfect color scheme for the style that they are trying to pull off.
